Brain Injury Rehabilitation

Like all injuries or conditions affecting a vital organ, a brain injury can be serious and affect your mobility and how you perform various tasks throughout your daily life, like going to work. However, it's possible to recover after a stroke or other trauma to the brain, so you can function once again. At Hope Brain & Body Recovery Center our functional neurologist and chiropractor in Chadds Ford, PA helps with your stroke recovery treatment or other brain injury recovery using physiotherapy.

Types of Brain Injuries

One type of brain injury is a concussion, which is actually the most common type of traumatic brain injury, often caused by a blow to the head from sports, fighting, a fall, or car or bike accidents. Whatever causes the injury to your brain will make the brain move around in your skull, possibly leading to bruising, damaged blood vessels, or a nerve-related injury. Another reason for problems with your brain is a stroke, an event that can cause you to lose function on one side of your body. It stems from either a blocked blood vessel or bleeding on your brain.

Dementia isn't a brain injury; it's a group of issues from a decrease in your memory or thinking skills. Several forms of it can occur like Alzheimer's, Dementia with Lewy Bodies, and frontotemporal dementia. Neuro-degenerative conditions like Parkinson's and multiple sclerosis can lead to brain injuries as well.

Treatments We Provide

Every brain injury or condition treatment plan is customized to your condition.
Our functional neurologist may recommend different types of exercises like vestibular exercises or ones to promote hand-eye coordination. We provide memory, auditory, and visual activities to increase the strength of your brain. On the other hand, our doctor might recommend cross-body, gait, grip strength, or stability exercises. It's also possible that in addition to physiotherapy, we'll size you for a splint to provide your affected body part with support while you regain function in it.
